Modern DomainerA second magazine about Domain names is about to launch called Modern Domainer. You know it is a hot industry when multiple magazines start to cover it. How many magazines will we have in the next four years if we’ve already gone from zero to two in less then 6 months. I love reading and writing about domain names, so I welcome the newcomer. I wish to see 10 more magazines on buying and selling domain names.

Here is a quote from their website:

Modern Domainer, a bimonthly industry magazine published in full color and distributed nationally, started in concept and planning in 2006 when a group of domaining entrepreneurs realized there was no definitive source for industry news and analysis. That changed when they brought together a core staff with the media, business, domaining, technical and publishing know how to create this powerful and unique magazine. Our goal? Its simple – to be the voice of the modern domainer.

Readership Demographics
In December 2006, there were an estimated 8,000 to 10,000 individual domainers worldwide and more than 120 million registered domains, showing a growth of 32% from the previous year. Dot com domains are still the most popular, with 63% of all .com and .net domains resolving to live websites. In 2006, domainers renewed 76% of expiring domains. A report in USA Today states that known sales of 5,851 domain names generated $29 million in 2005, compared with known sales of 3,813 domain names for $15 million in 2004. These figures represent only the tip of the iceberg for this rapidly growing but often fly-under-the-radar industry.

I’m not sure how to sign-up yet, but I will keep you posted.
