Computer.com flips again for $2,200,000. The domain has been in a Superbowl commercial and has a lot of owners over the years, but every time it goes to auction it gets more expensive. This was the only domain that sold for more then a million dollars.

Investment.com sells for $900,000 but OnlineInvestment.com sells for $9,000. It goes to show not many domains can sell for more then $100,000.  There were 12 other domains that sold for more then $100,000. It takes a special domain to go 6 digits at an auction. SportingGoods.com goes to bat at $450,000. The CowBoys football team scores a new address for their team at Cowboys.com for a cheap $275,000. The generic category of CateringService.com is fully baked at $270,000. Someone sets the Table.com for $260,000. My personal favorite of the big boys is CrosswordPuzzles.com for $210,000. If you want to find evil lawyers, try this new site, CriminalLawyers.com for $195,000. Some club promoter ponied up Promotion.com 8,500 admission tickets at $20 a pop ($170,000). If you want to play Poker on your mobi head on over to Poker.mobi which cashed in for $150,000. The songs can be downloaded at Ringtones.mobi for $145,000. People can now better plan a trip at CaribbeanVacations.com for $130,000. A new couple may want to visit Newlyweds.com which was gifted at $130,000. Or the singles can head to a new dating site at SinglesOnline.com for $125,000. If you want to figure out what is going on in the world just read News.mobi for $110,000.

The 16 huge names that sold for over $100,000 at the auction this week represent $8,030,000. The other 99 domains represent about $2 million dollars in sales. We see the 80/20 rule come out in full force here. 20% of the domains were huge and made up 80% revenue. Then the remaining 80% of the domains made up the remaining 20% of the revenue. This 80/20 rule generally happens in all businesses. If you don’t know what your 80/20 is then take a look around. On other news I was shocked that Seniors.com sold but I want to congratulate Page Howe. I think he got an Excellent price for this domain! I also think Charters.com for $140,000 was the best buy of the whole auction. It was cheap in comparison to everything else and I think is the best domain per dollar spent.

Here are the cheapest domains sold at the Domain Auction in New York this week. If you were looking for some great names you could steal you would be disappointed, the bidders in the audience would not allow it. Likes sharks circling their victims in the ocean the great names had multiple bidders with huge war chests. GXD.com was the cheapest dotcom domain sold. Three letters domains never seem go lower then $5,000 at auction these days.

Twas the night before the auction and the reserve was too high. I wandered by this sign today and I wondered how many of the names that were on this advertisement would actually meet their reserve prices. I hate watching a domain sit on the auction block and not get any offers above the reserve. Everyone in the room looks around, they all collectively think, “next please”. With 500 people in the audience that represents a lot of man hours from a lot of highly paid domainers. I know it must be hard to tell someone they will not be in the auction even if they own Auction.com and it continues to not sell. Hire a broker or develop the site.

A huge last two weeks at the Snapnames auctions. Our company, DomainTools, bought TechnologyWeek.com.  We could not resist the name. When doing a background check on the domain prior to the auction, we can see that this name had a lot of potential. I mentioned the domain to a few friends and they said they had read the magazine. HA. I love generic domains like this. People already know what should be at the domain name. We are tossing around ideas for the domain right now, but we will develop it with technology news. This will be a great name to hold for the future. If we want to start a magazine, we have the domain already to go. I would have bid at least $20,000 for the domain. If I wanted I am sure we could flip it for $50,000 in less then 6 months.

I think Toilet Plunger.com for $3,201 is the best buy this week. I can see with a little development this site would be earning $500 a month. A comparison site of Toilet Plungers is not a sexy site idea, but it is extremy practical and no one is doing it.

Some good auctions this week. Looks like Xn–hy1bj30dt7a.com takes top prize with $42K. For those of you that don’t read IDN that means Cell Phone in Korean. Which is different from the the Korean Cell Phone IDN of last week which also took top price. “The Garden of Eden.com” I think is a steal for $8,100. Wind Pump is another steal at $1,200. Call Solutions.com for $1,300 is great brand name at a Cheap price. “Owner Financing.com” looks expensive at $36,000 but I can tell that name is cheap when you think about the PPC that could be put on it. Bank Auction.com and DNS Service.com for around $3,500 are my favorite value domains this week. Awesome names for ultra cheap.

Yes, you are reading it right, an IDN domain name takes the top sale this week at Snapnames. The Korean characters mean “Cell Phone“. IDNs are starting to come into their own. However, we have to keep this sale in propective. Phone.com sold for a few million last year. So $36,194 for the Korean IDN of Cell Phone seems very cheap! Korea is one of the most connected countries in the world. This generic domain is worth a mint. I want to congratulate the winner and I am confused and shocked that more people were not bidding on this. People keep telling me there are not a lot of good domain names at auction, well not true. English speaking bidders should hire contracts to go through IDN names that are going to auction. This is a prime example of a high quality domain that is worth several hundred thousand if not a few million. IE7 and Firefox both resolve IDNs now and this auction looks like a down right steal to me.

If someone wants to be a millionaire, it is not to late to start. Buy names like this and HOLD.

This was an interesting week at the Domain Auctions. The value of .COM can not be any more clear in this auction. We see that MyOrder.com sold for $27K but MyOrder.net sold for $2,800. The market clearly values .COM at a 10X multiple. Or phrased another way, dotnet is worth 10% of the value of dotcom. In the local space, we see that BakersfieldCA leads the local city names at $13K but there were plenty of city names and sold this week. FilePorn.com sold for $3,766 while Porn.com sold for $9 Million. Oh, what a one word difference makes in the value of a domain name. One Character can change the value of a name by millions of dollars. FreeLayout.net was a dotnet that went extremely high at $7,500. So we can assume the value of the dotcom would be around $75,000 and in a weird twist it appears that FreeLayout.com is owned by Frank Schilling but that Oregon Names wanted the dotnet version.

I think SurfHawaii.com was a bargain at $6K. SelfDivorce.com looks interesting as well for only $5K, I think that is another bargain. What could a divorce attorney setup on that site which would bring in $5K a day? The value of some of these domains is incredible when you think about the potential.
