I look forward to reading this book. Thanks to David for doing the research and putting pen to paper, and thanks to Jay for the book review.

Yeah, an ad for this book hit my spam box.
Best seller?
I wonder if anyone else will care about this biz?
I’ve been around long enough to be curious, though.
One thing I have learned (painfully): stay away from crap domains and invest in solid .coms and .nets.
If I could step back in the wayback machine, I would take the same amount of money and invest in 4 or 5 second tier domains and develop them. Fortunately, despite myself, I do have three or four great domains, only one bought for over $1,500 in the aftermarket.
I have learned from my mistakes and am moving forward.
Also, buying domains is addictive, and I have had to go on a domain diet, which, for now, is a good thing.

xlibris says “the Online Ordering System is temporarily unavailable.
We are currently experiencing technical difficulties.” and Amazon doesn’t yet have it in their catalogues and no ebook order option in sight. Too bad…
May 28th, 2008 at 9:43 am
The guy would do well to make the damn thing available! Obviously you can’t order online cos the system is down, so I call to order. It’s a “Print on Demand” publisher. I was told it takes 10 days to print and 4-5 days to ship. So a full two weeks to get this book? Seems ridiculous. Why didn’t the guy make a deal with BN and at least have some copies in stores? He could have had a hit on his hands, but if you can’t ge the darn thing to read, as far as I’m concerned, it’s a dud! Might as well wait for the movie!

Jay,
This is a little off topic but not by too much. While doing research on another subject I came across the Domain names example.com/.net/.org which are registered under RFC2606 Section 3 to the “Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA)” using the Email account res-dom@iana.org which controls 317 Domains according to Registrant Search. The same Email accounts controls the one letter Domain names which IANA holds and which are included in the above total.
ICANN also appears to have extensive holdings under multiple @icann.org Email accounts. Both IANA and ICANN give the same mailing address at the Marina del Rey, CA.
A few months ago you had speculate on the prices which the one letter Domain names would bring at auction and how such monies could fund IANA. How much gold do IANA and ICANN have buried under the Marina del Rey? It would be an interesting BLOG report to see the full extent of IANA and ICANN holdings.

Jay,
How about a new topic on your blog after almost 20 days? It looks like you’re on vacation. :-}
Thanks,

Please cancel my account: RicJohnsonIII
note: Your website does not list an easy way to contact you or remove myself from you trial membership. Also your domain details do not show valid contact information which is ILLEGAL accroding to ICANN.
Updated: RicJohnsonIII, you have two accounts and neither have ever signed up for the trial. The phone number in the whois record goes right to our office.

@RicJohnsonIII
The WHOIS information for domaintools.com is compliant with ICANN regulations.

Yeah, I miss the posts, too.
July 15th, 2008 at 5:16 am
So, is that it? No more blog posts?
July 15th, 2008 at 2:06 pm
55 days Jay? Come on lets get a post up.
UPDATE BY JAY: I hate posting announcements saying no posting for a while. They seem redundant. To answer the questions, Yes, I need take a little time off and have been traveling around a bit. I hope after the summer I will get back to full time posting again. Blogging is a lot of work so I need to take a break every once in a while.

As you probably know, it is now available at Amazon. $30 for $21.59 on the hardcover or save a few bucks over the POD site price at $17.99 for the paperback.
I’ll be grabbing it the next time I make a purchase to get the free shipping. Got to many other books to read now anyway, so I’m in no rush, but this book looks good.
