Geo Domain: SanMateo.com going to Auction!

April 11th, 2008 by Jay Westerdal

Have you ever wanted to own SanFrancisco.com? Well, you are too late, that name is worth many millions of dollars and is not for sale. However the city next door is for sale. SanMateo.com is going to auction on April 21st at the Domain Roundtable. The city pivotal to the bay area is right across the Highway 92 Bridge. For the cost of less then one acre of land in the same city you can own the domain. It is perfect for development and is a growing city. If you have a chance to visit the city on the way to the conference you might think about bidding as well.

    Hey Jay,

I submitted SecureAsset.com to the roundtable for live auction.

Seeing how much you know of some of those already submitted, can you advise of it’s current status?

    Thanks!

  3. DREAMDEALER Says:

hi Jay is there a minor bug or is there a reason for submit resets ? iv placed domain descriptions on submitted domains a few times saved them yet some i have to redo they have been reset to lowercase in the name and description blank thanks

UPDATE BY JAY: We will take a look at that.

  4. HBaker Says:

Instead of an acre of land I can have a line of characters in a database!

UPDATE BY JAY: Domain names are not just Characters in a database! Hmmm, how about someone remove two characters from your bank account. You might as well get off the Internet, it is just a bunch of characters in a database. 0010100110

  5. OptimalNamesDOTcom Says:

Some of my submitted domains have also reset. Some were reporting a reserve of ZERO. I had to go back and replace the data, again. I dont know…….

  6. a1pilot Says:

    Hi Jay,

Looks like SecureAsset is now “on-list”! Thanks!

BTW, I like all of the help and advice that both you and Frank Schilling provide. Maybe I’ll get a chance to meet one of you at the auction!

  7. LovelyLA Says:

    Good Morning Jay,

Would I be correct in assuming that since it is Saturday and none of my submissions show any type of status change that we unfortunately, did not make the auction?

I was so hoping to at least get one in with you.

If you have any words of wisdom to share…I’m here!

    Thanks so much!

    LLA

UPDATE BY JAY: If you stop submitting Hypenated DotMobi domains your quality score goes up and what domains you do submit are reviewed faster.

  8. DomainLingo Says:

    Hi Jay,

Pizza.com just sold for 2.6 million… how about considering PizzaWOW.com or PizzaEmergency.com for the auction?

    Or maybe:

    TypoSquat.com
    ProbateFacts.com
    TrueChocolate.com
    WebNameSpinner.com
or several others I’ve submitted, all with VERY LOW RESERVES! :-)

UPDATE BY JAY: PizzaCollege.com is available for anyone to register. Hurry. :) There is an entire dictionary that can be appended to the word pizza.

  9. LovelyLA Says:

    Jay,

Received your response regarding my submissions.

Goodness - I’m very sorry if I offended.

I only had one hyphenated domain. I was stupid to submit it however,
believe it or not, there has been interest in it.
Believe you me, it won’t happen anymore.

Jay, part of my reason for submitting to you was because of the superb response I receive from your support team as well as my high admiration for you.

Again, didn’t mean to “ruffle feathers”.

Going to crawl in my hole now!

    Your Fan,

    LLA

  10. DomainLingo Says:

    Jay,

    You’re absolutely right (and I get your point). PizzaCollege.com, PizzaBody.com, PizzaOrganization.com, PizzaStudents.com, PizzaEstablishment.com, etc. all still available!

You must have used WebNameSpinner.com! :-)

UPDATE BY JAY: Actually I used InternetNameSpinner.com to figure it out.

  11. DomainLingo Says:

    Jay,

Ouch! Of course I went to try InternetNameSpinner.com and found that you made your point… again.

First reaction: Crawl in a hole like LovelyLA.

Second reaction: Stay out of the hole and keep learning from someone who is willing to teach. You have no idea how much I appreciate your willingness to do that. I’ve registered hundreds of names over the past few years, but too many of them are like PizzaWOW.com and WebNameSpinner.com.

This time I’m not going to say “I get your point” because obviously when I said it yesterday I still didn’t get it, so I’ll just say I’m starting to get your point and am looking forward to more opportunities to learn from the masters at Domain Roundtable.

Hope LovelyLA can crawl out of that hole and join us there. :-)

Thanks again Jay. See you next weekend!

    Best Regards,

    DomainLingo

  14. DomainLingo Says:

Jay said the full catalog will be posted tomorrow (Monday).
