DomainTools auction preview

Submit to Digg.com!

March 27th, 2008 by Jay Westerdal

Domaintools GavelThe Roundtable is coming up in just a few weeks and we are busy reviewing domains for the auction. We have already selected over 150 premium domains and we are VERY excited about the list of several thousand domains that have been submitted to us to pick through. The reserves are set to attract Domain buyers both big and small. We are very selective of what gets in the auction this year.

We have something on the list for just about every buyer. Here is a sneak preview of some of the domains going to auction. There will be a total of 250 domains in the auction and every single one is hand selected.

FamilyPlanning.comlanning.com CollegePlacement.comlacement.com Medically.comedically.com
60.com DrugAbuseTreatment.comreatment.com Tuscan.comuscan.com
Invites.comnvites.com WirelessMouse.comouse.com AppetiteControl.comontrol.com
AmsterdamVacations.comacations.com HousingProject.comroject.com YW.com
AmericanLiberty.comiberty.com Motorbiking.comotorbiking.com HollywoodPremiere.comremiere.com
Holiday.comoliday.com HospitalClothing.comlothing.com BusinessManagements.comanagements.com
Iraq.comraq.com VarsityAthletics.comthletics.com SanFranciscoBasketball.comasketball.com
MintConditionStamps.comtamps.com FG.com WartRemoval.comemoval.com
CalciumSupplements.comupplements.com SendCards.comards.com XmasToys.comoys.com

This is just a sneak preview of what we have coming. The final list is going to be fantastic. We are more excited about this auction than any other auction we have held, and that includes last year’s Domain Roundtable event where almost $4 million dollars in domain names sold in just a few hours.

If you would like to submit a domain, you will need to do it soon. The list is filling up fast. You will not see an auction this big for another year – there will be hundreds of people viewing online and hundreds of people at the conference this year. If you have a domain that you think beats one of the domains above, your time is running out to submit it.

I have been submitting names. Will we receive a confirmation, either way, as to whether the domain name(s) have been accepted, rejected, or not even reviewed? So we know? Thanks!

UPDATE BY JAY: Yes, we are notifying people as they get selected. Everything is “Pending Review” until we close off the selection process.

  2. OptimalNamesDOTcom Says:

    Thanks Jay.

  3. asapcustoms Says:

I always have pending review and never get any domains selected. We put 10 nice ones up now and will see if we finally get our domains in.

  4. mazkel Says:

FYI, I just added 58 dotAsia domains.

UPDATE BY JAY: I would love to add one DotAsia domain, but I want a Powerful One Worder.

  5. jrg12345 Says:

I certainly hope that this years auction will be better then the leap day auction.

UPDATE BY JAY: We purposely only ran domains under $250 in the leap year auction. We are saving the big guns for this auction.

  6. digital_signs Says:

Thanks Jay, I think this year’s auction should be sth special. My best wishes to all members of this auction and I hope a great profit for you and all friends who participate in this auction.

  7. DREAMDEALER Says:

Hey Jay why not have a seperate online auction with the next 250 runners up that closes at least a week or even have them locked in during that supplemental time you try and sell any that might not go in the LIVE one this might make for more interest and might be a good comparison to the advantage of live vs exclusive internet since we all know that the REAL cream of the crop of DOMAINERs are all members here @ DOMAIN TOOLS just an idea :)

UPDATE BY JAY: A lot of people submitting only want to be in the Live Auction, they would not settle for the silent auction.

  8. Interpress Says:

    Aloha Jay

Just arrived back on Maui from Jamaica and saw the deadline. Tonight I submitted a list and verified them all. A bit late to catch the premium selection but would be most appreciative if you could take a look :) I think TravelBookers.comTravelBookers.com deserves premium designation …I get a lot of inquiries on it. And Campaignomics.comCampaignomics.com is most relevant for national elections.

All the best for a spectacular auction!
    ~John

  9. svegi Says:

    Jay;

I think you personally like many names but i doubt howmany of them will be selected for auction.

    best wishes
    vegi

  10. mazkel Says:

UPDATE BY JAY: I would love to add one DotAsia domain, but I want a Powerful One Worder.

I understand Jay. However, I’m not sure if someone will submit that amazing single generic word for this auction.

It would be interesting to see some dotAsia domains on this auction, testing the waters.

This auction would definitely stand out as being the first one to list and possibly sell a dotAsia domain (outside of dotasia.orgdotasia.org and pool.compool.com). Great coverage for you and Domaintools. Just food for thought. Good luck!

  11. OptimalNamesDOTcom Says:

I am trying to confirm domain name XCIF.comXCIF.com and it keeps coming back “denied”. Doesnt say why. No problems with the registration details, all contact info is correct, I have access to the domain name and the registration email address – like all my other domains… Any ideas how we can get details as to why a domain says “denied” and what remedies there are to correct it?

UPDATE BY JAY: Try again in a few hours, if it doesn’t work then let the support team know at http://support.domaintools.com

  12. OptimalNamesDOTcom Says:

Thanks for the update Jay. I am going to submit a ticket. Several hours have passed and its still doing the same thing: FF says the correct email but “denied” status and IE says that there is no email address at all, and “denied” status. I shall submit a ticket.

  13. ogaard Says:

Where can I find information on commission and so on for domains submitted into this auction?

    Thanks you

UPDATE BY JAY: The commission is 10%.

Or you can read the full contract at https://www.domaintools.com/contracts/

  14. dGuru Says:

For those of you who want one word .asias, I submitted a few (testing the waters), some of which include:

    Filmmaker.asiaFilmmaker.asia (the kicker)
    Rembrandt.asiaRembrandt.asia
    Monet.asiaMonet.asia
    Birdcage.asiaBirdcage.asia

and a few others guaranteed to draw some hefty wallets. ;)

  15. DomainNameNews_com Says:

“I want a Powerful One Worder.”
This says it all. The live auctions are for great domains. If you have the domains this is a great opportunity.

Let’s be honest too though about what GREAT means . . . If you’ve never received an email inquiry on your domain, it just might be that you don’t have a great domain. If you’ve received 1 email, you might have one but that doesn’t mean it’s worth $500,000 either. ;)

  16. DomainNameNews_com Says:

oh yea and congrats on pulling out a big dog yourself
HOLIDAY.COMHOLIDAY.COM rocks. . .. . hope you took your own advice on making your reserve reasonable enough to motivate bidding.

  17. keywordomains Says:

what about .ca domains? Are u accepting them?

  18. jrg12345 Says:

UPDATE BY JAY: A lot of people submitting only want to be in the Live Auction, they would not settle for the silent auction.
Have you e-mailed any of them to ask them. people might go for a silent auction.

  19. eg-business Says:

UPDATE BY JAY: A lot of people submitting only want to be in the Live Auction, they would not settle for the silent auction.

If i wanna settle for the live & silent auction. All what i have to do is just set “Auction” to “all” ? right?

  20. OptimalNamesDOTcom Says:

    RE: JRG #18

I, too, would go for a silent auction. I’ve submitted many names but only a fraction of what I’ve got. I am looking for a reputable and honest venue to sell names as much as anyone else. The silent auction would be of interest to me and I am sure a few others..

  21. beggers Says:

JAY, I have no idea how to use the verification manager. I have about 100 domains that need to be verified. Please help!

  22. digital_signs Says:

    Hi Jay

As you said “There will be a total of 250 domains in the auction”, so, how long does it take to review the domains, in that way, at lease we know how many of our domains are going to be in the auction and how many are out for being sold personaly, I have 75 domains and the status of 65 of them were “pending review” for 2 months and as I’ve added a few till their amount is reached 75, for example: account-holder.comaccount-holder.com, live-sell.comlive-sell.com, card-issuer.comcard-issuer.com, Credit-Equity.comCredit-Equity.com, MeetingTimetable.comMeetingTimetable.com, public-party.compublic-party.com, Universal-Casino.comUniversal-Casino.com, …

    Thanks

  23. adnetsystems Says:

I’ve added some more domains, Jay what is the cutoff for reviewing domains for this auction?

UPDATE BY JAY: We will be making more announcements on what names are in on the 9th.

  24. smashfactory Says:

i am lost. if i submitted names, and now it just says pending contract- none got in, right? arent you told names got in, THEN you sign the contract?

  25. jrg12345 Says:

    CalciumSupplements.com

  26. jrg12345 Says:

    SanFranciscoBasketball.com
    xmastoys.comxmastoys.com
they are just as valuanble as $200.00

  27. DotCrucible Says:

Don’t have any .asia domains so I submitted
    CASHZILLA.comCASHZILLA.com
which not only has a hint of the orient,
    but is also very ‘green’……

  28. eldo Says:

The preview list seems very interesting.someinteresting.some really big names,i hope this time it’ll cross the $4m mark.

  29. Candleman Says:

I submitted 8 names many weeks back and they never seem to get beyond “Pending Review.” The same situation as last time and the sad thing it is nearly impossible to comunicate with anyone to see if they even have a shot. To just leave someone hanging is not the best way to grow a business. Why do you do that?

  30. prospecting Says:

I had the pair Campstove.comCampstove.com and Campstoves.comCampstoves.com accepted.

We’ll see if my efforts of informing most of the campstove industry about the auction.

And there is always the next auction and the continued growth in awareness regarding generics and the high growth in direct navigation

  31. digital_signs Says:

Those who their domains are “Not Accepted” for the Domain-Tools auction, can release their “Not Accepted” domains from domain-tools auction and submit them by 04/17 to a recent domain auction which is to be held in Paris and their previous results and website can be find in Domain tools blog.
