Jan 3rd Auction updates

Deadline to submit domains for the Jan 3rd Domain Auction will be extended to Thursday the 27th. There are too many people trying to get into the auction and we need more time to review submissions and fix a few software issues. We have over 200 people that have submitted domains to the auction so far. A lot of great stuff to pick through and I don’t want to miss anything. Our auction system is also being used by the last minute NO Reserve auction for ARES right now and we are not able to populate it while we are conduction another auction. The best decision is to keep the submission process open for two more days and allow the ARES auction to close on Wednesday and then announce the domains the next day.
I keep looking at the ARES assets and I am surprised at how much value there is. For a company that makes $12K a month to be up at auction and tied into 57 different MLS systems is a lot of value. The amount of work it takes to program into that many MLS systems is a lot of work. The new owner on Thursday will be getting a great starting base for developing into the online real estate world.

I do not know how many people might came across the same problem, but the system does not let me sign the contract agreement for my domain name submissions. The error it gives is false. The system looks for a CC with a name matching the signature (which I have), yet gives an error. I am glad that there is an extension for submissions, but as far as I see the problem is still there.

I left a critical support ticket about two days back…no response. And inspite of having paid the $1 charge, twice, it still shows as “Credit Card on file has never been charged. Please validate this card by purchasing this 1 dollar item to continue using this credit card as a verification of your name.”
UPDATE BY JAY: Yep, most of the staff is off during the weekend and support tickets are not answered on Holidays either. I will make sure the submission credit card + contract signing issue is bug free Wednesday morning.

Ok Jay,
Thanks for the update.
Cheers!

I’ll check back on Thursday, will there be some notification that your staff has looked at the domains, or will it just say pending review unless accepted?

Merry Christmas and a bountiful New Year to you Jay and to your entire Name Intelligence Team. Thank you for extending the submission of domains for the live auction.
Jay, I’m kindly requesting you that can you please look at my letter that I submitted at the support ticket last Dec. 22 requesting for the inclusion of 40+ premium generic one word/ key phrases country code domain names. These domains are requested to be auctioned in blocks (lots) as outlined in my letter. The whois registry of that particular cctld is not listing the email in their whois details so I can’t verify the email address of these domains in the DomainTools interface. But the whois is showing I’m the registrant and I can show proof like changing the nameservers, putting a webpage of your choice in the domains, etc.
With low reserve, I believe these domains will be of great value to the domain buyers as they hold into these domains or expand their products/services to that part of the world. These domains’ dotCom counterparts can fetch 6 or 7 figures if offered today.
Thank you very much for your kind consideration.

Thanks for the update, Jay. We can wait another 72 hours to get it right. Meanwhile, Merry Christmas to you and the DomainTools staff!

To be honest I would prefer to have the ARES system, than Edgeio. It’s a pitty that real estate isn’t my market, and I don’t live in the US.
It’s a very good opportunity, and I’ve told about it to some people.

Getting the same problem as yilmaz02 above, not being able to validate the agreement as the system refuses to accept the name in the signature field which does indeed match what you have on file for the CC.

Just a generic comment here… I agonize over every name I submitted and then agonized over setting each reserve price. I don’t envy the task you guys have in sorting through names. It feels like more art than science.

I know it says deadline for submission is “to Thursday the 27th”. For clarification, does that mean submission ends at midnight tonight (the 26th) or midnight the 27th?
Thank you:-)
UPDATE BY JAY: If you do not have your names in already, I am not sure what you are waiting for. I will be producing the list of Thursday, so having the domain in before that date will help your chances.

To sirglenn: Same here! I keep looking and wondering: Too high? Too low? Ahhh!! I guess its better to aim low and let the market decide from there, is how I am thinking at this point..

When can we expect a final auction list?
UPDATE BY JAY: Final list is getting release Thursday. I have 250 names I like right now, I am boiling that down right now. I am also looking for good stuff still coming in.

Hi!
How to confirm email for domains with domainsbyproxy.com
whois privacy?
Thanks.
UPDATE BY JAY: If it is truly a proxy, then you will get the email, and then will be able to click the confirm link.

Jay, can you please take a look at Ticket ID: HCN-951305
December 27th, 2007 at 5:45 am
Thank you, Jay!

Thanks.

How about .co.uk domains Jay?
The system doesn’t find a email address and i can’t confirm any email address because of this.
“This domain’s whois record contains no email addresses!”
UPDATE BY JAY: We are not able to automatically verify the ownership on co.uk
domains without email addresses on the whois. Sorry for that inconvenience. If it is a one word co.uk
domain and under $10,000 then contact me offline and I will manually place it in the auction. In general we do not do co.uk
domains.

your system is seriously flawed. it declines to accept submissions, erases all previous submissions and now wants me to sign a second contract and pay another $1 for no apparent reason. these lapses and glitches do not inspire faith or trust in your ability to conduct a fair auction.
UPDATE BY JAY: Michael, You have TWO accounts! Why are you submitting under both? I think you are confusing yourself.
December 27th, 2007 at 12:25 pm
Jay, I had submitted 20 domains for the auction. None of them are now showing up in the system, with the exception of 4–which are still pending confirmation. Does this mean that the 16 previously submitted and confirmed were deleted? Should I resubmit them?
We were very successful in selling domains at your last auction for over 70k, and were looking forward to this auction. Please advise. I will resubmit if I have to.
Thanks!

Thanks Jay for paying attention to this, it’s not a domain of that caliber though.
Another important thing that may affect other submitters as well…
Moniker’s WHOIS Privacy set up is causing problems, the emails aren’t filtered down to the owners email address on file.
I contacted support at Moniker and i was informed an administrator is doing hard work to get it solved, nevertheless i still have the half of my domains in unverified status because of this and i have no idea when this is to be solved.
Is there a way to get these domains still reviewed for auction Jay?
Thanks!
UPDATE BY JAY: If you can’t receive emails on your own domain, I am sorry. DomainsByProxy and other proxy companies can help you out.
December 27th, 2007 at 2:38 pm
Let me ask you all a question.
All my domains are in “Pending” status, has anyone accepted domains?
I am still hoping for some success, but if not, good luck to all others
Best regards

Jay, I have some customers who are interested in bidding in the auction. I need a place to send them, so they can get registered and get ready to go, ahead of time. Where is the best place to send them? Will you be putting a Clear link on DT’s homepage? It’s best to assume these people will not have an account with DT already. Please advise.

UPDATE BY JAY: If you can’t receive emails on your own domain, I am sorry. DomainsByProxy and other proxy companies can help you out.
I understand, will verify them once the current issues will be cleared up.

It looks like some domains are “in” – Is the final list compiled? Do the others that are still pending have a chance at making the cut? Thanks Jay.

I’m still showing the
“Warning: You have not signed the agreement for this auction and your domains are not currently being considered.
Please sign any applicable contracts.”
Even though I’ve submitted and resubmitted my cc and paypal info multiple times!
UPDATE BY JAY: Looks like you figured it out.
December 27th, 2007 at 9:04 pm
What is the status? It’s 10pm my time and I was hoping to see a final list or find out if anyone has even looked at my domains. Everything still says pending review.
December 28th, 2007 at 2:52 am
Hi Jay,
I was surprised to see i had this warning message this morning regarding the need to sign for a contract, yesterday night i went to bed thinking everything was taken care of, but unfortunately it wasn’t.
Last night there was only the email confirmation warning to me presented.
I’m trying right now to buy the 1 dollar item, but the link presented just leads to the same page and not to a purchase page?
I would really appreciate it if you could look into this for me?
Thanks!

Will the status change to accepted, rejected and such when the list is finalized? Thanks!
